Two Brothers Are Lighting Up The Board with Big Lakers
Brothers Conner (18) and Colton (14) Boulay of Minot are throwbacks to my youthful days of the 1970's when kids left the house and fished all day without supervision, could operate boats and knew how to fish. These brothers also have a booming tackle-making business, so it's only logical that they head to the big lake to test their lures.
On the afternoon of July 21, 2026 the boys took their (yes their, not dad's) bass boat out to Sebago to do some fishing. While they are die-hard bassers, the boys wanted to try out some of their new soft bait jigs on lakers, using spot-lock jigging techniques. They motored out to a spot where they had caught an 8-pounder a few days earlier and set up shop.
Using a Lowrance F9 Elite fish finder, they located fish on bottom and used their trolling motor's spot-lock to hold over the fish. Conner dropped a line in, tipped with his own lure, a CB Baits white "fluke" soft jig on a metal jig head and began the rhythmic method of jigging.
After a few minutes of bouncing the lure off bottom, Conner latched onto a whopper. The ensuing battle saw the fish thump, dive and roll, but in the end, it came to the net. When he hoisted the fish aboard for pictures and measurements, it weighed in at just over 15-pounds and was 34-inches long. What a trophy!
Conner is enjoying his last fishing days on Sebago for a while as he heads to New Mexico to play hockey in the North American Hockey League, hoping to get a spot on a top college team. Colton is enjoying summer and working hard on a variety of project. He even has a driveway sealing business and hires his friends to help him,. when he's not making lures. He will be a freshman at Poland Regional High School in the fall. Both boys are budding guides and it won't be long until they are on the water showing clients how they catch the big ones!
