Where to Fish on Sebago Lake
Salmon are up in the water column, between surface and 25-feet down. Lake trout are on bottom, primarily. Watch for bait schools on your fish-finder, likely smelt or alewife, as fish will be suspended where the bait is.
What Bait to Use on Sebago Lake
Live bait is king now. Smelts or shiners are working well. Fellow Guide Dan Hillier and I are having good luck using large shiners. A few salmon we took to eat had smelts in their stomach. Salmon we released burped up smelts as we were handling them.
When to Fish
Salmon fishing is best early from sun-up to until 9:00AM. Lake trout are active all day, especially when trolling bottom using lead core line or a downrigger. Cloudy or rainy days are best and a little chop on the water is always a good thing when fishing for salmon. Tight lines!
