Emergency Medical Care Near Sebago Lake: Hospitals, Urgent Care & ER Guide - Sebago Lake, Maine

Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to me.

What started as a simple bee sting quickly turned into a hand that swelled up to what I jokingly called "Mickey Mouse's hand." When I noticed a red streak traveling up my arm, I knew it was time to stop hoping it would get better and get it checked out.

The bee sting — swelling that earned it the nickname "Mickey Mouse's hand."

I happened to be with a friend who is the CEO of Armstrong Ambulance. He took one look at it and said, "You should get that checked out." That was all I needed to hear.

I headed to Bridgton Hospital — the only option, as it was late in the day — where I had virtually no wait, was evaluated by the Emergency Department, and was treated with a steroid, Benadryl, and an antibiotic as a precaution. About 12 hours later, the swelling was almost completely gone and I was back to normal.

The experience also made me realize something.

Every summer, thousands of people visit Sebago Lake, Long Lake, Brandy Pond, Crescent Lake, Panther Pond, Trickey Pond, Moose Pond, Highland Lake, and many of the other lakes throughout the Sebago Lakes region. If someone falls off a tube, cuts themselves while boating, hooks a finger while fishing, gets stung by a bee, or simply becomes ill, one of the first questions is:

Where should we go?

Fortunately, there are several medical care options in the Sebago Lakes region depending on the situation. Whether you're staying on Sebago Lake, Long Lake, Brandy Pond, Crescent Lake, or another nearby lake, here's a guide to help you decide.
